Dead on the 4th of July
At long last, a first in the history of Our Sick Game: a July 4th death. On a day traditionally reserved for the supplemental draft, tradition was pushed aside today following the death of Ewing Oil's own Jesse Helms. The former senator from North Carolina died in the early morning hours of natural causes at the age of 86. His 14 points have cut Sweet Valley Death's lead over Ewing Oil to 83-57.
"I just can't begin to tell you how estatic we were to get this surpise on today of all days," said a spokesperson for Ewing Oil. "We'll proceed tonight with the first pick in the draft as if nothing happened, but it certainly is nice to get 14 points out of the blue. We're very excited about our choice and can't wait to add their points before the year ends."
